Paul Merrill

Actor. Writer. Comedian. Mostly Human.

Writer

Over the past decade, Paul Merrill has written for just about anyone who would pay him, and a few who didn’t. He has written scripts for top-selling video games and jokes for talking bugs. His strangely popular Seattle Supersonics blog, Supersonicsoul.com, has landed him in the New York Times, ESPN.com, and on Public Radio’s Weekend America.

Here is a not-quite-complete list of things I’ve written:

Television:

Staff writer for the Emmy-nominated PBS show Biz Kids.

A 30 Rock spec script called “Boy Trouble”, which was a semi-finalist in the Scriptapalooza TV writing competition.

An original TV pilot called Meat about a fellow with obsessive-compulsive disorder who works at a meat packing plant.

Another pilot, BOUNTY! (co-created with Dartanion London), about a lovable loser who starts his own bounty hunting business, something he is hopeless unqualified for.

Advertising:

I wrote and starred in a promotional video for RealNetworks, where I portray their Helix software as an aging, down on his luck schlub looking for love. For some reason they really liked it.

Animation:

I wrote and voiced all the characters for Paul Merrill: Karate Konsultant, a spoof of the old Chuck Norris cartoon from the 80s.

Film:

Grand Old Flag is a short film script based on a true story that happened to me in a junior high gifted class back in the 1980s.

Vikings vs. Hillbillies, a short monster movie script about, well, Vikings versus Hillbillies.
